It is quite common for actors and actresses to get into relationships with each other. There have many of “power couples” as the tabloids like to refer to them, but none of them ever seem to last long. There have been some examples of celebrity hook-ups that turned out very well, but it seems like the disastrous ones are all that we hear about.
Unfortunately, this another one of those that ended up in ashes. The two people pictured here are Sarah Jessica Parker and Robert Downey Jr. The two young movie stars dated back from 1984 up until 1991, making this one of the longer relationships in Hollywood. It is unsure how the pair met, but they hit it off quite well with one another and decided they wanted to date.
According to Downey, it started out pretty well, the pair enjoyed each other’s company and actually felt a connection to each other. Even Downey’s roommate, Kiefer Sutherland, really liked Parker and got along well with the pair. It is said that everything began to change when Robert began to become horribly dependent on drugs. He had been using them since childhood, but in his adulthood, he became horribly addicted to them. With his brain so addled, Sarah Jessica Parker found it difficult to deal with him, though she tried hard to get things back of the way they were.
The pair broke up because of the continuous strain they were under. Downey would go in and out of rehab until finally beating his addiction and becoming one of Hollywood’s highest paid actors. Parker would also receive much fame from her acting career and both are still working hard in their industry.
