The Rolling Stones Quiz
Rock and Roll has come a long way from men in suits singing alongside five-piece bands. Some original pioneers of rock and roll called their music “Novelty Foxtrots” to try and generate interest because people simply weren’t used to this new style of art. Musicians in the 50s introduced rock and its sister genres like rockabilly. Then, the 60s allowed rock music to branch off even further.
Bands from this era gradually morphed the loose genre of rock into what we commonly know today. From expressive guitar parts to driving rhythms and even the occasional use of electronic synthesizers, rock stars from this period used what came before as a loose blueprint for the music that they wanted to create.
Central to this artistic shift were The Rolling Stones. Even during a time of vast experimentation, the Stones were considered experimental. The only real constant in their musical style was its inconsistency. They jumped between instrumentations and subgenres more quickly than any of their contemporaries. Prospective audiences in the 60s soon fell in love with this rock band, finding something unique in their music that they simply couldn’t get anywhere else.
