The Trojan War Quiz

The Trojan War Quiz

In Greek mythology, there exists a peculiar war whose impact is ubiquitous even though we don’t know if it really happened. Modern archaeologists believe there was a civilization called Troy in what is now Türkiye.

And yet, we aren’t certain if that city ever truly went to war with Ancient Greece. Much of the Trojan War’s history is told through the lens of mythological allegories that attribute most of the things that happened to the gods and their incessant bickering.

Naturally, no one believes in the Greek gods anymore. But now we’re left in a peculiar spot since we aren’t sure if all these myth-tinged histories of the Trojan War were completely fabricated or if they took inspiration from real events and people. Since we can’t separate fact and fiction in the history of the Trojan War, this quiz will focus solely on the mythology surrounding this legendary conflict.

Multiple of the Ancient World’s greatest writers recorded epics and legends about the Trojan War. Given that, we have an abundance of sources that focus on various aspects of the mysterious conflict.

Questions will center on important people, events, and real-world historians that all combined to form our contemporary understanding of Greece’s war with Troy. Some legends do vary in how they report the details of this event. We’ll therefore stick with questions whose answers are consistent between sources.

As much as to test, this quiz is meant to inform. So, we hope you come out of it knowing something new.
