History of Canada Quiz
The nation that puts the “North” in North America, let’s hear it for the Land of the Maple Leaf. One of the world’s largest singular countries and a major economic power, Canada is often historically viewed in relation to its southern neighbor, the United States of America. Though that is understandable given their geographic proximity, Canada’s history is thoroughly unique despite this association.
The nation was founded on the same kinds of principles of liberty and representation that caused most current American nations to rebel against their colonial overlords. Yet, Canada did so peacefully. The sheer number of civil wars that Britain had to fight with their colonies convinced the imperial power to haggle with Canada and make it into a collaborative ally rather than a potential enemy. Canada continued to develop from a nation of pioneers and explorers into a modern power.
This quiz will examine Canada’s history in broad strokes. Though we’ll briefly touch on the independence movement that formed Canada, the primary focus of this quiz will be on the events that happened after Canada was officially founded.
This broad scope should give a basic understanding of the country’s history that isn’t often taught outside of its borders. Canada has helped shape the world in various ways, and it remains a constant pillar of the global political community.
As much as to test, this quiz is meant to inform. So, we hope you come out of it knowing something new.
