American Folk & Country Legends Quiz

American Folk & Country Legends Quiz

The roots of American music rest in a variety of different sources. The European settlers who eventually founded the American nation brought the musical sensibilities of their homeland to the U.S. in its earliest days. African-Americans also brought the unique sounds of African music to America in a way that would help the continent define its own voice that was distinct from the music found throughout the rest of the world.

As people continued to move into the United States from every corner of the globe, they each added their own contributions to the melting pot of American music. Two major genres that reflect the sheer diversity of America’s artistic roots are the music of the common people, folk and country.

These sibling genres dealt with similar themes from different points of view. In their earliest days, they were extremely similar even though they have evolved into more distinct categories in modern times. This evolution was thanks to the work of talented and innovative musicians from all across the U.S.A.

In this quiz, we will ask you to identify some of the most prolific folk and country musicians of American history. In order to get a particularly historic list of performers, we will be asking you about musicians who left a major impact on music before 1991 since retrospect helps us to understand the full extent of their impact.
