American Literature Quiz – Part 2

American Literature Quiz

The founders of America were rebels. That is true in multiple senses as not only did the American patriots rebel against the monarchy of Great Britain, but they also committed fully to the concept of democracy which had been nearly lost since the Ancient Period. Because of America and France, democracies returned in full force and became the standard for world governments. This is why it is so easy to take for granted what a radical choice it was to embrace a republican form of self-governance.

Looking through the art that has come out of America also reveals another view of the rebellion that acts as a fire in the belly of the United States. Much of early American art was intentionally derivative of trends originating from Europe. With enough time and the sculpting of a true national identity, artists from the United States began to spread their wings and foster new revolutions in the ways human beings create.

This sequel to our original American Literature Quiz will peel back the curtain on thirty more influential writers and art pieces that helped shape the country’s modern creative identity. No subjects from that first quiz will be repeated here. So, we highly recommend you check out both of these quizzes for an expansive look at some of the best writers the U.S.A. ever produced.

As much as to test, this quiz is meant to inform. So, we hope you come out of it knowing something new.
