Charlie Chaplin Quiz

The Charlie Chaplin Quiz.

Cinema, as an art form, has the potential for incredible complexity. By combining visual elements with dialogue, music, and the camerawork itself, the art of cinema is able to convey layers upon layers of ideas which others might not be able to. As cinema was first blossoming, a few stars were able to prove to the world the potential it had for expression. Charlie Chaplin was one of those key figures who helped the world understand the potential for comedy which movies contained.

A humble man from humble origins, Chaplin’s natural charisma translated well to the screen. Even before dialogue was available in film, the man’s bearing and his physicality were able to express just as much as words were able to. He didn’t just start and stop his career with silent movies, however. As the medium which he loved evolved, he was constantly at the forefront of legitimizing its developments. With continuous praise from all circles of people, Chaplin became something of an icon who symbolized the wonders that the entertainment industry could provide the public.

So great was this celebrity that the man himself has become a true historical icon without being some great politician or general. In an era where the world seemed hell-bent on destroying itself, there was still Chaplin doing his best to make everyone smile for a brief moment. His antics provided levity in some of the darkest days our world has ever seen.
