Christopher Columbus Quiz

The Christopher Columbus Quiz.

American history traces back to long before European powers landed there. However, the contemporary history of the American continents definitely begins to take shape upon their colonization by European powers. Enter Christopher Columbus. Not the first to sail to the new world and certainly not the last, Columbus’s voyage provided a practical and undeniable route of passage to two lands many were unaware existed.

His travels to and from the American continents were fraught with peril. However, with a crew of stalwart adventurers at his side, Columbus managed to forge the first truly permanent connections between the world of Europe and the Americas. There are certainly controversial elements of Columbus’s tale. His dealings with indigenous peoples in particular have caused a great amount of scrutiny in recent decades. We do not wish to discount these controversies in the slightest. However, this quiz seeks to take a look at the broad career of a man whose name is practically synonymous with exploration.

It is from this broad historical context that we will look at the legacy of Columbus. For those more interested in the atrocities he approved of and which were committed in his name, there are plenty of external sources which document them. For the purposes of this quiz, we will mainly discuss the impact Columbus had on world history. Having said that, we invite you to take our Christopher Columbus Quiz in order to test your knowledge on this famous explorer.
