The call to break the boundaries of the Earth was a fascination of mankind since the dawn of civilization. After all, we are a race of pioneers and explorers. This fascination inspired the discovery of much of humanity’s scientific knowledge through the process of trial and error.

In the 1900s, it seemed that mankind finally had a chance of achieving the dream of reaching the heights beyond the Earth’s orbit. The two most powerful countries on Earth were investing in methods to claim the ultimate prize of establishing a human presence in space.

In the U.S.A., the goal of space travel was largely headed up by the individuals who made up the organization called N.A.S.A. Nowadays, we look upon N.A.S.A. with pride as a symbol of American achievement. However, in its early days, this was a bit of a controversial program. In spite of those objections, the men and women of N.A.S.A. managed to pull off a number of the most daring missions in scientific history.
