History of the Simpsons Quiz

Animation has been traditionally associated with children’s entertainment. That’s certainly understandable considering how companies like Walt Disney Studios made fortunes by creating cartoons aimed at young audiences. Fairy tales and simple slapstick hijinks populated most of the original cartoons.

Over time, however, people realized that animation was as malleable as any other art form. Creators dared to push the boundaries of what could be expected from cartoons. As a result, movies and television finally began to house animated programs with older audiences in mind. The legendary sitcom The Simpsons was one of the programs most responsible for this shift.

It can be quite amusing going back and researching how reviled The Simpsons was by some of society’s more pearl-clutching elements. What the show dared to do was cut through the saccharine of other television sitcoms and jokingly point out the blemishes and flaws of American society.

Nowadays, The Simpsons is regarded as a cultural institution. Contrasting its current place in the television pantheon with its original outsider status is a cause for laughter.

This quiz will discuss elements of The Simpsons both on-screen and behind the scenes. We will ask you about characters and plot elements of the show as well as its creators and the impact it left on the real world.
