Mel Brooks Quiz

The sense of humor of America was often tied to what was comically en vogue across the Atlantic during the first century of the nation’s existence. Afterall, that was a period where entertainment was a rare treat for a populace that had to work constantly in order to uphold their standards of living. When the United States’ economy began to boom and prove the nation a formidable manufacturing powerhouse, the wealth of citizens drastically improved. This meant there were millions of people with new disposable income and more leisure time to enjoy the finer things in life.

The original funny men of the early 20th Century helped to differentiate America’s comic voice from the humorous stylings of Europe. For a century, these two senses of humor were largely homogenous. After the original funny men, comedy in America began to diversify even further to the point that multiple genres of comedy were established in the nation. One of the pioneers who contributed much to American comedy in the mid-to-late 20th Century was director Mel Brooks.

Brooks was an entertainer down to the very core of his being. He loved making people laugh, and he had the razor wit to do just that. Brooks made light of many of the dark things that frightened people in a way that offered comfort. In the process, he made some of the most legendary comedies of all time.
