Notable Americans of the 19th Century Quiz
People who live through historical events can often find themselves unable to truly understand the full magnitude of the happenings which surround them. This is why retrospect is such a powerful tool.
Over time, this retrospect only grows stronger. We gain the ability to witness the full impact of certain people and events as more and more time separates us and them. This is why historians can largely agree upon the historical significance of a figure like Julius Caesar while they still hotly debate the potential impact of more modern history-making people.
In terms of American history, historians have managed to catalogue the perceived importance of a number of figures. This quiz will celebrate America’s past by testing your knowledge on some of the most famous Americans to make an impact on the world during the 19th Century. Since it can be a bit subjective deciding whether or not a historical figure is “of” a particular time frame, we have decided to narrow down our considerations to people who can be argued to have accomplished something truly historic between the years 1799 and 1900.
Also, so long as they were an American at the time of their great accomplishments, they are qualified for this list no matter where in the world they made said accomplishments.
As much as to test, this quiz is meant to inform. So, we hope you come out of it knowing something new.
How much do you know about the people who defined America’s past? Take our Notable Americans of the 19th Century Quiz to find out.
