The Legend of Heracles Quiz
Standing as perhaps one of the most famous heroes in world mythology, Heracles was a man who embraced hardship and suffering in the name of proving his strength both internal and external. Might was something he possessed in abundance.
All of that physical prowess, however, demanded an exacting cost. Powerful individuals despised Heracles. Kings were jealous of him, women wanted him to themselves, and even some Olympians actively worked against him out of pettiness. Yet, Heracles didn’t let any of these roadblocks stop him. He bowled through challenges like a bull through a china shop, never once losing perspective on the man he wanted to be.
This is the quality of the Heraclean myth that probably made it so widely-spread. Mankind will never escape hardship. Yet, if we take inspiration from this myth concocted by our forefathers, we can take comfort in the understanding that any person can rise against what plagues them. Heracles knew who he wanted to be. Even at his lowest points, that better version of himself was the compass rose that offered him perspective.
In this quiz, we will be examining the mythology that surrounds Heracles, with an especial focus on the achievements that granted him immortality. Some parts of this tale are uniquely tragic. We say this in advance as a warning; just be aware that Heracles’ myth has one or two elements that some might find disturbing.
