The Mexican Revolution Quiz

The people of Mexico have long suffered under the influence of conquerors. From the Aztecs to the conquistadors and then to foreign business interests, Mexico’s land and people were often exploited for the gain of others.

That is part of the reason why so many radical authoritarians have gained power over Mexico during the last couple of centuries. Desperation pushed Mexico to embrace homegrown despots because they figured such an arrangement would be better than being controlled by other powers. The Mexican Revolution critically bucked this trend. This was a period where the common folk of Mexico stood up and declared that they wouldn’t tolerate anyone’s boots on their necks any longer.

Even so, the process of getting to that point was radically complicated. Multiple historians have commented on how confusing the Mexican Revolution can be to a first-time student. So, with that in mind, this quiz will seek to ease participants into the subject so that those already in the know can test their smarts and those unfamiliar with the Revolution can learn about the event in bite-sized facts that weave the bigger picture.

Many coups, battles, and political declarations make up this single decade of Mexican history. Those who figure out how all of the pieces fit together, though, are rewarded by discovering how a modern nation finally earned its freedom after centuries of exploitation.
