Trivia Question: The Treaty of Jaffa ended which Crusade on surprisingly equitable terms?
Answer: The Third Crusade
After three bloody wars had been fought over Jerusalem, both the Europeans and the caliphate finally decided to hash out an effective peace arrangement. They decided that Muslim officials would still control Jerusalem, but that Christian pilgrims would be allowed to enter the city so long as they didn’t bring weapons. After the Ayyubid Sultanate took over Jerusalem and refused to honor that agreement, a Fourth Crusade was launched.
