Trivia Question

Trivia Question: Who was Maryland named for?

Answer: Queen Henrietta Maria of England

Henrietta Maria was originally a Roman Catholic, just like Baron Baltimore who asked her for a colony in the New World. She granted him this charter, hoping that Catholics from England could move there and practice in peace. In recognition of her generosity, Baron Baltimore named the colony Maryland.
