Answer: Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte (Napoleon III)
It was during the Second Republic that Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte was elected President. The February Revolution had just removed from power the July Monarchy that ruled the country. After a few years in office, though, Bonaparte would name himself Emperor of France and dismantle the Second Republic.
