Trivia Question: In 1948, newspapers accidentally printed that declared what politician won the presidential election of that year?
Answer: Thomas E. Dewey
The most famous occurrence of this mistake came from the Chicago Daily Tribune. Harry S. Truman, the true winner of the election, even photographed himself holding up one such mistaken paper. Apparently, many newspapers were so confident in Dewey’s victory over Truman that they preemptively printed editions announcing these falsely predicted election results.
