Pickett’s Charge was a desperate final assault by the Confederacy at Gettysburg. Pickett’s commanders hoped that they could march enough men at the Union’s fortified position to overwhelm through sheer numbers. Instead, a slaughter occurred that sent the Confederate troops packing.
