Trivia Question: What is the term for a military ruler in Feudal Japan?
Answer: Shogun
The shoguns of Japan were meant to be subservient to the will of the emperor. Yet, at multiple points throughout history, shoguns used their military authority to usurp the emperor’s authority and rule parts of Japan. The Tokugawa Shogunate even managed to conquer all of Japan under a military rulership.
