Trivia Question: Joyeuse was the name of the sword wielded by what famous Frankish king?
Answer: Charlemagne
The name of Joyeuse just means “Joyful” in French. Charlemagne largely used this blade for ceremonial purposes given that his knights did most of his fighting for him. For centuries after Charlemagne’s death, French kings were said to have been coronated with Joyeuse in honor of Charlemagne.
