The murder of Indira Gandhi was perpetrated by her own bodyguards. Gandhi had ordered a violent assault on a Sikh holy site which ended up killing over a hundred worshippers. Both of Indira Gandhi’s bodyguards were Sikhs who sought retribution by taking her life.
