Through her writing, she was able to communicate not only the experiences of living in a time of blossoming Black culture in America, but also, she spoke to something that was broadly American in general. Even in her times of success and influence, there were still many obstacles that held her progress back. Yet, Hurston overcame them to pave a new path for people to follow after.
