Answer: Eugene Bullard

Eugene Bullard was one of the few Black pilots to fly during World War One. Yet, he flew with great distinction on behalf of France. In a time when aerial warfare was still in its infancy, Bullard won award after award for demonstrating his skills as a dogfighter.
